But it's not just deceit that is at fault here, it's the idea that you should not ever show boredom or disapproval or any other other things it encourages you to hide.

If you are bored of what someone is saying then you should say you are bored, not tilt your head, smile and nod. I'm not saying that you should be rude but it shows more leadership to be yourself and say, "Look, I'm not interested / I don't care about that / It's pointless discussing this because ..."

Confrontational people deserve to be criticised and walked away from. Touching your heart with your open palm is the sort of thing that tv evangelists do, so do that and be immediately judged untrustworthy!
